Scholz calls on Putin to withdraw troops from Ukraine

“The hour-long conversation was devoted to Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and its consequences,” the message reads.

The chancellor condemned Russian airstrikes on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine and emphasized Germany's determination to support Ukraine in ensuring its defense capabilities.

Scholz also called on the president of the aggressor country to reach a diplomatic solution as soon as possible, “including the withdrawal of Russian troops.”

It is also reported that world food security was also discussed during the conversation. The Chancellor and the President of the Russian Federation noted the important role of the recently updated grain agreement under the auspices of the United Nations.
