Trump to reporter: “Find a new job” when pressed on Russia sanctions
On Wednesday, September 3, U.S. President Donald Trump lashed out at a journalist who questioned his inaction toward Putin, saying he had not yet completed the second or third phases of sanctions
He said this at a White House briefing.
When asked why he had repeatedly expressed disappointment with Russian leader Putin but taken no action, Trump advised the reporter to find a new job.
“How do you know there has been no action? Would you say that putting secondary sanctions on India, the largest purchaser outside China, is no action? That costs Russia hundreds of billions of dollars. You call it no action? And I haven’t even done phase two yet, or phase three. But when you say there has been no action, I think you ought to get yourself a new job. Because, if you remember, two weeks ago I did it. I said that if India buys, India will have big problems. And that’s what happened. So don’t tell me about that,” he said.
Trump also added that in the coming days he would speak with Putin and then decide on further steps.
