EU to ban all Russian gas imports by fall 2027 — Espreso correspondent
The EU has adopted a decision to completely halt imports of Russian gas. Supplies of liquefied gas from Russia will be stopped from the beginning of 2027, and pipeline gas in the fall of the same year
Espreso correspondent Tetiana Vysotska reported the information.
"We have major news that is extremely important because it concerns the complete rejection of Russian gas imports into the territory of the European Union. Just today, the EU Council made this decision: ministers voted for the EU to completely halt imports of Russian gas into its territory by the fall of 2027," Vysotska noted.
According to the correspondent, supplies of liquefied gas from Russia will be halted from the beginning of 2027, while pipeline gas supplies will cease completely in the fall of 2027.
"Importantly, the European Commission stated that it continues to prepare documents so that the EU can also completely abandon Russian oil in 2027. This is big news because, I emphasize again, in the fall of 2027 there will no longer be any Russian gas in the European Union," Vysotska added.
Representatives of the European Council and the European Parliament reached a preliminary agreement on December 3 to completely halt imports of Russian natural gas by 2027.
