This was reported by the publication Spiegel.
"We are coming together at a time marked by great tension. In particular, I want to emphasize Russia's war against Ukraine, which creates many problems for our rules-based world order," Scholz said, speaking to the Chinese leader.
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, China supported Putin and portrayed the United States and NATO as the main culprits of the war.
Today, Beijing's support no longer shows such enthusiasm, but there has not been much criticism from China about Russia's actions.
Scholz became the first Western head of government to meet with Xi Jinping since his re-election as party leader two weeks ago.
