Reuters reported the information, citing three sources in the energy industry.

According to sources, on August 2 the Ryazan refinery lost nearly half its capacity. Two key primary oil processing units — CDU-3 (8,600 tons/day) and CDU-4 (11,400 tons/day) — were stopped after the attack. The plant is now operating only with unit CDU-6 (23,200 tons/day), which is about 48% of total processing capacity.

Last year, the Ryazan plant processed 13.1 million tons of crude oil and produced:

  • 2.3 million tons of gasoline,
  • 3.4 million tons of diesel fuel,
  • 4.2 million tons of fuel oil,
  • 1 million tons of jet fuel.

At the same time, the Novokuibyshevsk refinery, which was also hit on August 2, has completely shut down.

The drone strikes have significantly affected the production capacity of Russian oil refining.

  • On the night of August 2, Russians reported explosions in several cities across Russia and Crimea as a result of drone attacks. Fires broke out, including at critical and military infrastructure facilities.
