Russia’s main objective in Donetsk region explained by military expert
Military expert, co-chairman of the Right Cause NGO, Dmytro Sniehyriov, noted that Russia's key goal is to establish control over Slovyansk and Kramatorsk
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"The Russian army is trying to break through towards Chasiv Yar, while realizing that it is almost impossible to storm Chasiv Yar head-on. Because the city is prepared for active defense. During this period of time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to build the second and third lines of defense. The breakthrough to Chasiv Yar gives an opportunity to reach Kostyantynivka, and then to Slovyansk and Kramatorsk, which are key points of Ukrainian defense," explained Sniehyriov.
According to the military expert, Russian troops do not give up their attempts to break through the Ukrainian defense and reach the key positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"The key goal of Russia is to establish control over Slovyansk and Kramatorsk. Therefore, no wonder there is an intensification of hostilities not only on the Bakhmut front, but also on the Kupyansk-Lyman front. The main task of the occupiers is to reach the city of Izium. And from there they will try to break through to the flanks of Ukrainian defense in Donetsk region, namely to Slovyansk and Kramatorsk," emphasized Sniehyriov.
