Russia’s drone strike damages port infrastructure damaged in Odesa region, non-residential premises in Kyiv region

On the night of August 1-2, Russian terrorists launched the Shahed UAVs against Ukraine. They targeted Kyiv and Odesa regions

This is reported by the AFU Air Force and local authorities.

At 10:30 PM, it was reported that several groups of Shakhed UAVs were launched from Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The Air Force announced that these drones would enter Ukrainian airspace after midnight.

During the air alert, the anti-aircraft defense system was activated in Odesa and Kyiv regions.

Kyiv region

Defenders successfully shot down more than 10 UAVs over Kyiv. However, falling debris caused damage to non-residential buildings and roads.

An administrative building in the Solomyanskyi district from the 9th to the 11th floor was damaged. No fire occurred, and rescuers assessed the damage. There were no reported casualties.

Air defense in the region was effective, with enemy targets shot down and no recorded hits. 

Nevertheless, some private properties were damaged by falling debris, including a house catching fire in one settlement and a shop's roof being damaged in another.

Authorities are providing necessary assistance to those affected, the Kyiv regional military administration’s message reads. 

Odesa region

Oleh Kiper, the head of Odesa regional military administration, reported that the Russians directed drones to the south of Odesa region during the night.

As a result, fires broke out at the port and industrial facilities, and a grain elevator was damaged. As of 05:30 AM, there were no casualties.

According to Vladyslav Nazarov, OC South spokesman, the drones used in the attack were of the Shahed-136 type, launched from the Sea of Azov through the Black Sea.

Sumy region

Air defense forces in the Sumy region also successfully destroyed a Shahed-type UAV during the night, as reported by Sumy regional military administration.
