One killed, two injured as Russia’s missiles attack food warehouse, recreation area in Odesa region

Operational Command South's press center head Natalia Humeniuk said this on Espreso. 

According to her, the Russians used non targeted missiles, thus testing Ukrainian air defense.

According to the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, a missile strike in the Odesa region on the night of May 8 completely destroyed a rented warehouse of the Odesa regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society with an area of 1,000 square meters.

“The fire completely destroyed the humanitarian aid for the Odesa region that was in the warehouse. At the time of the missile strike, there were no employees or volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross on the spot. The provision of humanitarian aid and the activities of some projects of the Odesa regional organization of the Red Cross of Ukraine have been suspended,” the statement says. 

After the evening air raid alert sounded on May 7, it became known about a fire in the Odesa region. The enemy attacked a warehouse of a food company and a recreational area on the Black Sea coast with Kh-22 missiles. This was reported by the OC South and chairman of the Public Council at the Odesa Regional Military Administration Serhiy Bratchuk.

"There is a fire in the Odesa region after an explosion," Odesa journalists informed at 11”49 pm.

Before that, they had heard a "powerful explosion" in Odesa.

Later, the South OC confirmed the information about the attack by strategic aviation in the Odesa region.

"Missiles of the Kh-22 type (Storm - ed.) were fired at a warehouse of a food company and at a recreational area on the Black Sea coast. Rescue services are working to eliminate the fires. There were no reports of casualties. The information is being clarified," the statement said.

Serhiy Bratchuk, chairman of the Public Council at the Odesa Regional Military Administration, also reported on the situation.

He clarified on Espreso TV that Russian troops launched 8 missiles from the temporarily occupied Crimea, from Cape Tarkhankut, some of them did not reach their targets.

The air alert was announced in Odesa city and the Odesa region between 10:58 pm and 11:39 pm on May 7.
