Russia’s assaults crumble in Lyman, forces now seek other options – Ukraine's 63rd Brigade
In the Lyman direction, under the responsibility of Ukraine's 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, Russian forces have lost the initiative after hundreds of failed assaults last year, forcing them to shift focus to other areas
Senior Lieutenant Rostyslav Yashchyshyn, spokesperson for the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said this live on Espreso TV.
"The Lyman direction is quite specific, and until yesterday, the situation there was unstable. The area is large and includes several smaller zones," Yashchyshyn explained.
He said that during the past night, the number of attacks dropped to almost zero, with only a few isolated attempts.
"In 2025, there are relatively few assaults on our positions in the 63rd Brigade’s sector. Why? Because throughout last year, we repelled enemy attacks daily — more than 300 in total. And if you check the map, you’ll see that we haven’t lost any ground — we’re holding our positions. So we can say that the enemy has broken its teeth on our lines and is now trying to find other routes. It’s quite possible that my colleagues in other brigades are seeing a different picture," Yashchyshyn said.
- Over the past 24 hours, 196 combat clashes took place along the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk direction alone, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 61 Russian attacks.
- Ivan Tymochko, Chairman of the Council of Reservists of Ukraine's Land Forces, believes that the idea of creating a demilitarized zone between Ukraine and Russia currently sounds like just another political statement, with no real plan for implementation.
