Russia's allies refuse to serve Russian Mir payment system due to threat of US Treasury sanctions
Most of the countries that previously agreed to serve the Russian Mir payment system have abandoned this decision due to the threat of sanctions from the US Treasury
This is reported by Bloomberg.
It is noted that the US has promised to impose sanctions on those countries that will help or support the use of the Mir payment system.
Earlier, after the first wave of restrictions from the US in 2014, nine countries agreed to use this payment system. But after the US Treasury announced possible sanctions in September, the banks of six of these countries abandoned their decision.
According to the publication, representatives of the Bank of Russia were surprised by the refusal of "friendly" countries to use the Russian payment system. Currently, Russia is looking for alternative solutions to this issue.
