This was announced by the President of the Ukrainian Association of Secondary Metals (UAVtormet) Volodymyr Bubley, reports the Ministry of Industry.

"All those destroyed 3 thousand tanks are about 120 thousand tons of scrap metal. And we estimate the total volume of destroyed Russian equipment that is still rusting in Ukrainian fields at about 250 thousand tons. Sooner or later, all this destroyed Russian equipment will end up at Ukrainian steel mills, but it will not have any significant impact on the scrap market in terms of volume," said Bubley.

He also reminded that according to the law, all destroyed Russian equipment is considered state property. Therefore, no steel plant will accept it without the appropriate permits from the Ministry of Defense.

In addition, according to the head of UAVtormet, different grades of steel and non-ferrous metals are used to produce military equipment, which makes it difficult to recycle such waste.

As for the total volume of scrap procurement this year, the association expects it to reach about 900-950 thousand tons.

"If we forecast steel production at 6 million tons, the procurement will be about 900-950 thousand tons. Traditionally, our main consumer is still the domestic market. Interpipe or Kametstal suspend purchases, everyone is sitting around waiting for something to be sold there. That's why this scrap collection forecast is realistic," Bubley summarized.
