Zelenskyy at UN: Russia plans attacks on Ukraine’s nuclear infrastructure to cut power supply
Russians are planning attacks on Ukrainian nuclear infrastructure to disconnect reactors from the power grid
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during his speech at the UN General Assembly.
"Russia has destroyed our entire heat distribution and generation infrastructure. Potentially millions of Ukrainians could be left without heat this winter, which is exactly what Putin wants. Recently, I received another alarming message from our intelligence. It appears that Putin is indeed planning attacks on our nuclear power plants and their infrastructure to cut them off from the grid," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that Moscow is using satellite imagery to monitor Ukraine's nuclear power facilities and gather information about them.
He emphasized that the Kremlin is attempting to pressure Kyiv into surrendering. "Imagine your country with an 80% destroyed energy system. What kind of life would that lead to?" Zelenskyy asked.
