Russia’s war against Ukraine kills 208 artists, 107 journalists
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Russians have killed 208 artists and 107 Ukrainian and foreign media workers
Ukraine's Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications reported the information.
"These data not only reflect the scale of losses but also serve as a reminder of the tragic pages of our history. Just as in the 1920s and early 1930s, the Stalinist regime destroyed a generation of Ukrainian artists, so today Russia is deliberately destroying the cultural elite of Ukraine," the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications noted.
The ministry recalled that journalists currently working in Ukraine are creating important news, investigations, and reports in conditions of increased risk. They record the events of the war to provide Ukraine and the world with truthful information about what is happening. Media workers collect irrefutable evidence of the Russian crimes 24/7 and highlight the strength, heroism, and courage of our defenders.
"Systematic crimes against journalists and media committed by Russia pose a serious threat to freedom of speech and information security, undermining democratic values and human rights," the ministry added.
