Russian forces attack Ukraine with 17 drones at night
On the night of February 8, the Russian military launched Shahed attack UAVs to strike Ukraine, targeting Odesa and Mykolaiv
The Ukrainian Air Force reports that yesterday the Russian military launched 17 Shahed-136/131 drones from Cape Chauda in occupied Crimea. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down 11 'shaheds' over Mykolaiv, Odesa, Vinnytsia and Dnipropetrovs'k regions.
Explosions in Odesa
At about 03:00, the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, reported that as a result of the night attack, civilian infrastructure in Odesa was damaged. No one was killed or injured.
"An enemy drone strike damaged an unfinished multi-storey building, smashed the windows. The building of the educational institution was also affected: the roof, ceiling, and windows were shattered," said the official.
The Prosecutor General's Office reported that two policemen were injured. They were hospitalized.
Explosions in Mykolaiv
At around 01:00, Suspilne TV reported explosions in Mykolaiv.
City Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych confirmed the information about the explosions. Later, he wrote that more than 20 residential buildings were damaged as of the morning, including cottages, apartment buildings, offices, and a private enterprise.
No people were injured.
"The private residential sector was damaged and a fire broke out. A sports infrastructure facility was also partially destroyed and a fire broke out," the State Emergency Service wrote.
Vinnytsia region
According to the Southern Defense Forces, the wreckage of a downed UAV in the Vinnytsia region caused a fire at an infrastructure facility.
The fire was localized. There were no casualties.
