Russian forces shell train station, ambulance in Kherson, killing and injuring people
On March 27, a paramedic team came under Russian shelling while assisting a victim in Kherson. As a result of the attack, the medics were injured
Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported the information.
“The medics were evacuating a 59-year-old man to the hospital. He had sustained a blast injury, a concussion, and an abdominal wound. At that moment, the Russians attacked them. Due to the enemy strike, a 33-year-old paramedic and a 63-year-old driver suffered blast injuries and concussions,” the official wrote.
According to him, all the victims are currently in the hospital.
The head of the Kherson Regional Administration’s press office, Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, stated on Espreso that the shelling began at 12:30 p.m. and lasted for an hour.
“The Russians shelled the train station area with artillery, where an evacuation train was present at the time. This is the city center, and there were people there who wanted to leave, as well as passersby going about their business. After the first strike, two people were killed at the bus stop—a 65-year-old woman and a 76-year-old man. Naturally, people then ran to shelter near the railway station. But even so, some were injured,” he said.
According to him, over 40 shells hit the area within an hour.
“As a result of the shelling, two people died on the spot. Eight were wounded, including the paramedic and the ambulance driver. We expect the number of wounded to rise, as more people are seeking medical help,” the official added.
“But those weren’t the only victims that day. In the morning, the Russians killed a 68-year-old woman by dropping an explosive device. A 54-year-old man nearby was injured,” he added.
In total, 14 people were affected today, three of whom died.
- In February, Russian forces attacked an ambulance in Kherson with a drone as it was responding to a call. The vehicle was damaged.
