
Russian drone strikes leave one killed in Odesa, dozens injured after Kharkiv hit by 20 Shaheds

Strikes in Kharkiv: massive attack lasted 2 hours
At 03:36 a.m., Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that the Russian forces hit a densely populated central district of the city with a Shahed drone. A private house has caught fire.
At 04:10 a.m., Terekhov wrote that another strike was recorded in the city, preliminarily in the Industrial District.
"Three strikes have already been recorded, preliminarily in the Industrial District of Kharkiv," the mayor informed at 04:15 a.m..
At 04:21 a.m., Terekhov reported another strike on Kharkiv, preliminarily in the Kholodnohirskyi District. At 04:25 a.m., an explosion was heard in the Shevchenkivskyi District, and a few minutes later, a strike was recorded in the Kyivskyi District.
"The enemy struck the Shevchenkivskyi and Kyivskyi districts of Kharkiv with attack drones. Information about casualties and the consequences of the strikes is being clarified," wrote the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, at 04:31 a.m.
The mayor of Kharkiv also reported two strikes, preliminarily in the Saltivskyi District, and soon after, another explosion in the Kyivskyi District.
"There is information about a fire at the site of one of the impacts in the Kyivskyi District. No information about casualties has been received so far," Terekhov wrote at 05:16 a.m.
Soon after, Syniehubov reported that a fire broke out in the Kyivskyi District of Kharkiv. Emergency services were working at the scene.
At 05:44 a.m., Terekhov clarified that a fire was recorded at one of the city's largest markets after the latest drone strike.
At 05:50 a.m., Syniehubov described the consequences of the attack on Kharkiv:
- In the Shevchenkivskyi District, the roof and a room of a private residential house caught fire over an area of 100 square meters due to falling Shahed debris.
- In the Kholodnohirskyi District, a Russian drone crashed and a car caught fire. Another UAV hit the ground, damaging a residential building.
- In the Kyivskyi District, a restaurant building was burning as a result of a drone strike.
- In the Industrial District, a car was damaged and a fire broke out due to the blast wave and debris from a drone strike.
According to Terekhov, 17 strikes were recorded in the city across four districts in two hours. As of 05:52 a.m., two people were known to be injured.
At 06:28 a.m., Oleh Syniehubov clarified that Kharkiv was attacked by 20 Russian-launched Shaheds in several waves. As of 06:47 a.m., four people were known to be injured. Two men, aged 59 and 44, also suffered acute stress reactions.
The massive attack lasted more than two hours, and fires broke out at the impact sites. State Emergency Service firefighters began eliminating the consequences.
The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office showed the aftermath of the massive attack on Kharkiv.
In the morning, Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that in the Kyivskyi District of the city, shops on the market territory were burning. About 90 trading facilities were damaged and 20 burned down. At another address, a restaurant building was on fire.
In the Kholodnohirskyi District, the facade of an apartment building was damaged, and a kiosk, a building, and three cars caught fire.
Syniehubov clarified that the Russian forces attacked the Barabashovo market. He also showed photos of the aftermath of the attack.
Consequences of the attack on Odesa region
As of 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that, according to preliminary data, one person was killed and one was injured in the Odesa region.
"The enemy continues its terror against the civilian population. Today’s attack on the Odesa region has led to tragic consequences: civilian infrastructure, private residential houses, a warehouse, and vehicles have been damaged. Fires broke out at the impact sites, which rescuers quickly extinguished," the State Emergency Service of Ukraine added.
At 9:52 p.m., Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov reported explosions in one of the city’s districts. Before that, he had warned the Kyivskyi District of Odesa about the drone threat.
"City center and Peresyp District, also be careful," he wrote at 10:02 p.m., and less than a minute later reported repeated explosions.
A minute before midnight, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, said that as a result of the Russian attack on the Odesa District, several civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged, including private residential houses. Fires also broke out.
"In one of the houses, the body of a deceased person was found. Additional information about the injured is being clarified," Kiper noted.
