Russia moves from energy attacks to hazardous sites, warns expert
Russia is escalating its audacity, moving from strikes on Ukraine's energy facilities to attacks on technologically hazardous sites
This opinion was expressed by Mykola Sungurovskyi, Director of Military Programs at the Razumkov Center, on Espreso TV.
“As Russia’s brazenness grows, we can expect that they have already shifted from hitting energy facilities to striking technologically dangerous sites, such as in Kalush. In other words, they aim to create, in Ukraine, zones of technological disasters. And this poses an even greater challenge for Ukraine,” he said.
Sungurovskyi noted that in such cases it is necessary to involve not only traditional State Emergency Service units but also Special Forces for chemical safety.
“These are very serious challenges for the population, since our system of organizing enterprise operations and public life in such conditions is not sufficiently developed. This needs urgent attention,” the expert stressed.
- On the night of September 3, Ivano-Frankivsk region came under a combined Russian attack. In Kalush, schools and kindergartens were closed due to deteriorated air quality following a Russian strike.
