Russia launches missile attack against Ukraine, killing and wounding people

On the morning of January 8, Russia launched another missile attack against Ukraine. Explosions were heard in Dnipropetrovs'k, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Khmelnytskyi regions

Ukraine’s Air Force reported the information on Telegram.

During the massive air attack, explosions occurred in Dnipro city and the region, in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Zmiiv (Kharkiv region), as well as in Novomoskovsk and Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovs'k region, Khmelnytskyi and Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Zmiiv in Kharkiv region. As of 12:00, four people have been reported dead. One person was killed in Dnipropetrovs'k region, one in Kharkiv region, and two in Khmelnytskyi region.

Residential buildings, infrastructure, and vehicles were damaged. Police officers are documenting Russian war crimes.

Dnipropetrovs'k region and Dnipro: in Kryvyi Rih, the Russian forces struck a shopping center, in Novomoskovsk, a public transport bus overturned due to an explosion 


Dnipropetrovs'k Regional Military Administration reported that a shopping center and more than two dozen private houses were damaged in Kryvyi Rih. A 58-year-old man sustained shrapnel wounds.

A 62-year-old woman was killed in the Lozuvatka community of Kryvyi Rih district. A private house was destroyed.

A fire broke out in Novomoskovsk. The blast wave overturned a minibus that was passing by the strike site. Three administrative buildings, 2 gas stations, a five-story building and a car were damaged.

According to preliminary data, 27 people suffered injuries in the city,11 of them are in hospital. 4 of them are children.

There are 4 wounded in Kryvyi Rih and in Kryvyi Rih district. One person was hospitalized in moderate condition.

Kharkiv and Kharkiv region: woman killed in Zmiiv, civilian objects damaged in Kharkiv


Russian strikes damaged an enterprise and an educational institution in Kharkiv. Two people received injuries as a result of the attack.

A private house was destroyed in Zmiiv, Kharkiv region, and two elderly men and a woman were trapped under the rubble. 

At 10:40 a.m., the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported that a 62-year-old woman who was unblocked from the rubble of a house in Zmiiv had died. According to the updated information, a 63-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were freed from the rubble. Another 88-year-old man received first aid.

Khmelnytskyi region: two people killed, Russian troops hit infrastructure facilities

At least 6 explosions took place in Khmelnytskyi region in the morning. 

According to the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, Russia struck at infrastructure facilities in the region. A fire broke out. Emergency units are localizing it. Unfortunately, two people have been reported dead.

Air defense forces shot down two missiles in the region.

Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia region: at least 5 people injured, missiles hit residential areas


At 08:06, Zaporizhzhia City Council Secretary Anatoliy Kurtev reported that there were victims of Russian strikes in the city. At 08:12, the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, Yuriy Malashko, wrote on Telegram about 5 explosions in the regional center since 07:00, hits in residential areas, and two victims.

"As a result of a combined attack of cruise and ballistic missiles from different directions, a total of 5 explosions occurred in the regional center. It is known that the missiles hit residential areas - in open areas and near houses. As of 08:00, two people have been reported injured as a result of the rocket attack - a man and a woman. The information is preliminary and may be updated," Malashko wrote.

Around 10:30 it became known that the number of victims had increased to 5.

As a result of the attack, windows were smashed in nine multi-story buildings and 6 private sector buildings were damaged. Workers of the city emergency rescue service and the Municipal Emergency Service are eliminating the consequences of the attacks.
