Around 6:00 a.m. on February 7, an air alert was declared in all regions of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the movement of several groups of missiles. Local authorities informed about strikes on Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mykolaiv and Drohobych in Lviv region.
The Russian missile strike caused a fire in Kyiv's Holosiivskyi neighborhood, the City Military Administration reports. Mayor Vitali Klitschko clarified that the fire occurred in an apartment building.
The Kyiv City Military Administration adds that a fire broke out at a service station in the Holosiivskyi district in addition to the high-rise building. Parked cars also caught fire.
It is also known that a power line was damaged in the Dniprovskyi district.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko noted that there may be people under the rubble of a high-rise building in Holosiivskyi district. Firefighting and evacuation are underway.
" Over ten people were injured in Kyiv, as of now we know about two dead. There may be people under the rubble. Some communications, including high-voltage cables, have been damaged in the capital. Work is underway to restore everything as soon as possible," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.
Later, the Kyiv City Military Administration noted that the death toll had risen to three. There are also 43 reported injuries.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko informed that the body of the fourth dead person had been unblocked from the rubble of the high-rise building. A total of 60 people have been evacuated from the building, and doctors and psychologists from the State Emergency Service are assisting those who need it.
The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration Oleh Syniehubov reported that, according to preliminary information, the strikes were recorded in the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv.
There is damage to non-residential infrastructure.
As of 6:26 a.m., there were no casualties.
At least 20 residential buildings in Mykolaiv were damaged by a Russian missile strike, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych reports.
"About 20 of them are without roofs. The damage to gas and water supply networks is being repaired by the utility companies. There are some wounded. One person is hospitalized. Others were treated on the spot," he wrote on Telegram.
Later, the city mayor informed that the wounded man died in the hospital.
"Unfortunately, the man who was hospitalized after the strike died in the intensive care unit. He had severe mine-blast and brain injuries," wrote the official.
The head of the Lviv regional military administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, said that an industrial facility in Drohobych was damaged.
"The fire is spreading over an area of about 300 square meters. Firefighters are working at the scene," Kozytskyi posted on Telegram.
As of the time of publication, there was no information about the victims.
Poland used its aviation to secure the country's airspace when Russia fired missiles at Ukraine. This was reported by Radio Liberty and the Polish Operational Command.
"Intensive long-range aviation activity of the Russian Federation, related to missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine, is being observed. All necessary procedures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace have been activated and the State Aviation Administration of the Republic of Poland is constantly monitoring the situation," the message reads.
