Russia has turned atrocities into statistics, not horror

In the intercepted conversation, one of the field commanders gives an order in Spanish for the execution of Ukrainian civilians: "When there is fog, mist, so they won't be identified, let them liquidate all people who are enemies: on motorcycles, on bicycles, women and children, women and children."

This is not news at all, mass executions of Ukrainians — this is their long-standing practice.

"What is surprising is not this, what is surprising is our society's underestimation of the enemy's plans and the scale of these plans. If you think that in case of defeat, they will simply change your passport and flag, you are mistaken. No one will live as before. No one."

Everyone who represents the elite of the nation (the true elite) - scientists, artists, intellectuals, journalists, clergy, military commanders and others will simply be executed. Tortured to death, shot, at best sent to rot in Siberian camps.

The flower of the nation — teachers, civil society leaders, cultural and sports figures, officials and military personnel of middle and lower ranks will be deported to sparsely populated regions. 

Those from among former military, police and other law enforcement agencies who agree to work for the occupier will be sent to conquer new acquisitions of the Kremlin, the most likely victim is Moldova, then — the Baltic countries.

Those of the Ukrainian population who remain will be gradually mobilized into the ranks of the enemy army.

Everything Ukrainian will be forbidden, for attempting to have and read Ukrainian books they will give long prison sentences, they will accuse of terrorism and connections with the Ukrainian underground.

"If you think you will flee abroad, then 30 million will not flee abroad, because even from the occupied territories many people for various reasons did not manage to flee in 2022. No matter how you look at it, millions will remain under occupation."

And no one from outside will influence anything. There were mass killings in Bucha, Kupiansk and other occupied cities. And what? The Russian government is not only not punished for this, it has been returned to world politics and is once again worthy of a handshake. Putin is applauded by the U.S. president on the red carpet on U.S. soil, and the kidnapper of Ukrainian children Lvova-Belova tells journalists how she did it.

And nothing! Absolutely nothing! Mass murders and kidnappings of Ukrainian children have become not crimes, but everyday occurrences. Russians with the assistance of Trump, Orban, Fico, Xi, Modi and other politicians have legalized the Russian criminal regime, returned it to world politics and changed international norms. 

These changes are unspoken, but it is already possible to kill and kidnap daily, and there will be nothing for it. Ukrainians, no one will stand up for us, understand this — no one! World society knows that we can be killed with impunity, this has become commonplace. And Putin's regime understands this perfectly, this is exactly what they strived for — to change the world rules and make crimes statistics, not horror.

Therefore, it is unclear why our civilian population behaves as if no war exists for them, as if mass graves are not planned for all of us, deportation trains to Siberia for some. The civilian population has recovered from the fright of 2022, and thinks that everything has passed, one can not participate in defending one's own survival. Not even in the defense of the country, as it turned out, this is too complex a semantic construction for some of our fellow citizens, but for one's own survival.

After all, we are talking about your own survival, not just about saving the country. When people tell me: what has this country given me? I answer — defenders, thanks to whom you are still alive.
