On the evening of Monday, October 28, the Russian army launched attack drones and missiles at the territory of Ukraine. In Kryvyi Rih, a man was killed and 14 people were injured in the explosions. In Kyiv, 6 people were injured
Missile attack on Kryvyi Rih
At 9:55 p.m., the Ukrainian military warned of a threat of ballistic missile attacks from Crimea. A few minutes later, a high-speed target was observed heading for Kryvyi Rih.
Around 10:00 p.m., Suspilne reported explosions in the city.
Later, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, said that, according to preliminary information, there were casualties as a result of the missile attack on Kryvyi Rih.
As of 10:41 p.m., the number of victims of the missile attack increased to 10. A three-story residential building was damaged in the city. A medical facility, a car and a gas pipeline were also damaged.
At 11:24 p.m., Lysak reported 11 casualties: two men, aged 39 and 60, in extremely serious condition. Five more hospitalized are in moderate condition.
Oleksandr Vilkul, the head of Kryvyi Rih's mayor's office, reported that a three-story residential building in a dense apartment building was almost destroyed.
“An emergency rescue operation is underway. As of now, there are 12 wounded, three are in surgery, two of them are very seriously injured. There are many damaged buildings, broken windows and balconies. We are setting up our headquarters in the nearest school (residents know where it is) to help with building materials, utility crews and applications for assistance from the city. We will help with resettlement,” he said.
The President also commented on the attack.
“Every handshake with the war criminal Putin gives him confidence. Every kind smile convinces him that he can get away with his crimes. Instead of flirting with him, we must force him to peace through our collective resolve. Appeasement never brings peace - it only whets the aggressor's appetite. Instead, we must isolate the aggressor and increase pressure on it until it stops its terror. Adherence to common principles saves human lives and cultural heritage. Neglecting them brings death and destruction,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
Later, Vilkul said that a 39-year-old man died as a result of an open head injury.
At 12:17 a.m., the State Emergency Service noted that the number of injured had previously increased to 12. The rescuers rescued 5 people and handed them over to emergency medical workers.
In the morning, the military administration reported that 14 people were injured in the missile attack on Kryvyi Rih.
"Ten of them are hospitalized. One of the wounded is seriously injured, while the rest are in moderate condition. Unfortunately, the attack claimed the life of a 39-year-old man," Lysak wrote.
He added that the fire was extinguished by rescuers. In the city, 11 apartment buildings, a clinic, a school, and an administrative building were damaged. Twelve garages were destroyed, another 10 were damaged. A gas pipeline was damaged.
Drone attack on Kyiv
At 1:35 a.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that Russian drones had been spotted in the region. Air defense forces are operating in the region.
At 3:23 a.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration again reported that air defense forces were working against Russian UAVs.
At 4:31 a.m., the Kyiv Military Administration reported air defense activity.
“Air defense is working in Kyiv. Stay in shelters until the air raid is over,” wrote the head of the Kyiv Military Administration.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote that medics were called to the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv. No other details are available at this time, and Klitschko did not specify whether the ambulance call was related to the Russian drone attack.
Shortly afterward, Klitschko reported that a residential building in Solomianskyi district caught fire after the UAV debris fell.
“Several cars are also on fire. A commercial building is on fire. All emergency services are at the scene,” he added.
As of 4:58 a.m., two victims have been reported, and medics are providing them with assistance. Klitschko clarified that one of the victims was hospitalized, while the other woman was treated on the spot.
The Kyiv City Military Administration informed that the debris also fell in the Sviatoshynskyi district in an open area.
“Details are being investigated. No information about the victims was received,” added the administration.
As of 5:16 a.m., the fire in Solomianskyi district was extinguished. The Military Administration clarified that the fire was caused by a gas pipe depressurization on the front of a 9-storey residential building.
“According to preliminary data, there is a risk of depressurization of the gas supply system. The emergency gas service is on its way to the scene,” the administration said.
As of 5:44 a.m., there are three victims in the Solomianskyi district, two of whom were hospitalized. The mayor of Kyiv also informed that due to the damage to the gas main, specialists turned off the gas supply.

At 6:07 a.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration reported 5 injured. In 20 minutes they wrote: “Six injured. One person with a serious leg injury was hospitalized.”
In Sviatoshynskyi district, shrapnel smashed windows in a three-story administrative building, the administration reported. There was no information on injuries.
According to Espreso correspondent Natalia Starepravo, the hit set fire to cars, a 9-story building, market premises and shops. People were also evacuated from their homes, and medics and volunteers are working at the scene.
“At 3:30 a.m., it hit, and everything flew out. Luckily, I had tape on the windows—I used eight rolls. I thought I’d take it off when the war ended. Without that tape, we would have all died... The explosion was terrible, so loud. My son said the balcony was on fire, or maybe the cars were burning. It’s horrible, just horrible,” said Vira Stepanivna, a resident of the damaged house.
Ruslan Kravchenko, the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, informed that the air alert in the region lasted almost 7 hours. Air defense forces were working in the region.
“Enemy targets were destroyed. There were no hits to critical or residential infrastructure. There were no casualties among the population,” Kravchenko said.
At the same time, the regional military administration noted that in one of the districts of the region, as a result of the fall of debris from downed Russian targets, a grass flooring caught fire. The fire has been extinguished.
Also in another area, drone debris damaged the roadway near the village.
