Russia attacks Ukraine with Shaheds, missiles, killing 5, including children. Destruction reported in Kyiv, Dnipro

On the evening of Friday, October 25, Russian forces launched Shahed drones and missiles to attack Ukraine. As a result of a UAV strike on a residential building in the capital, falling debris in the Kyiv region, and a missile attack on Dnipro, five people were killed, including two children. At least 26 civilians were injured

Shahed strike on a residential building in Kyiv

As of 11:57 p.m., five casualties were reported, including a young girl born in 2009, who was killed. One person was hospitalized.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported the strike at 9:20 p.m.

"In the Solomianskyi district of the capital, there was an explosion. Preliminary reports indicate that an enemy UAV hit a residential building. Emergency services are heading to the scene. Details to follow," Klitschko wrote.

The military administration confirmed that a Shahed drone struck a 25-story building, the upper floors are on fire. The apartments from the 17th to the 21st floors are damaged.

A total of 43 rescuers and 11 firefighting units were working on site, evacuating 100 people from the building.

"A mobile tent was set up on-site to provide necessary assistance to the residents," Klitschko added.

At 12:32 a.m., Suspilne reported a series of explosions in Kyiv. Reports of air defense operations came in around 6:13 a.m.

Later, the Kyiv City Military Administration clarified that by the morning of October 26, the number of people injured in the Russian attack had risen to six.

As reported by Espreso correspondent Natalia Starepravo, by the morning of October 26, no rescue services remained at the site where the drone struck the multistory building. The fire had been extinguished, and the assistance stations were closed.

Consequences of falling debris in the Kyiv region

Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported that a fire broke out in a two-story garage attached to a hostel in one of the region’s settlements due to debris from downed Russian drones during the attack.

It was later confirmed that the incident involved a non-residential building in Irpin, according to Irpin’s mayor, Oleksandr Markushyn.

By the morning, the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that a woman born in 1968 had died as a result of the attack. She sustained abdominal injuries from falling debris of Russian targets.

Additionally, a 13-year-old boy suffered minor injuries in the attack.

As of 9:00 a.m., debris from downed Russian targets caused damage to 15 private houses, 3 shops, one apartment building, and 3 outbuildings across 4 districts in the region. Three cars and a power line were also damaged.

Additionally, grass fires broke out in two districts. All fires have been extinguished.

Missile attack on Dnipro

“A missile attack on Dnipro. Residential buildings have been damaged, and a fire has occurred. We are clarifying the details,” wrote Serhiy Lysak, head of the Regional Military Administration, at 11:29 p.m.

As of 11:50 p.m., three people were reported injured: two men were hospitalized (one in serious condition), while a woman received assistance on the spot.

After midnight, Lysak reported that an 8-year-old girl was among the injured and had been hospitalized in moderate condition. In total, nine people were known to be injured, four of whom were in the hospital.

“A two-story residential building has been partially destroyed. There may be a person under the rubble. Four apartment buildings and one medical facility have also been damaged,” Lysak added.

At 12:35 a.m., the head of the Regional Military Administration reported that two women had been killed as a result of the Russian attack. Additionally, the number of injured had risen to ten, including a 17-year-old boy who was hospitalized in moderate condition.

As of the morning of October 26, three people had died due to the Russian attack, including a child. Furthermore, the number of injured had increased to 19, of which four were children. Eight people were hospitalized.

The nighttime rocket attack caused destruction at several locations in the city: a two-story residential building and a garage were destroyed, 13 apartment buildings and 2 private houses were damaged, 30 cars were affected, and the hospital buildings were also damaged.

Russia's strike on Sumy and Konotop

"Late this evening, October 25, the enemy struck the infrastructure of the cities of Sumy and Konotop," the statement reads.

All necessary services are working at the hit sites. The consequences of the attack are being clarified.
