Russia attacks Kherson, wounding 14-year-old girl, damaging regional theater
On February 14, the invading Russian army shelled the Kherson region, injuring three civilians, including a 14-year-old girl, and damaging the Mykola Kulish Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater
Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported this.
"A 14-year-old child was taken to the hospital in extremely serious condition. She has an explosive injury, leg and neck wounds," he wrote.
The official clarified that the girl is currently undergoing surgery. Doctors are trying to save her life.
An 84-year-old man from Kherson was also brought to the medical facility with an explosive injury. The doctors are conducting an examination and providing him with medical assistance.
A 19-year-old man also sustained a leg injury as a result of the shelling.
In addition, the invading Russian troops damaged the Mykola Kulish Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater, which is the main theater scene in the Kherson region.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
"This theater is one of the largest in the south of Ukraine and the main theater scene of the Kherson region. Almost immediately after the liberation of the city from occupation, the director of the theater, Oleksandr Knyha, resumed work in a safe basement - an art hub in a shelter," the statement says.
It is noted that as a result of today's Russian shelling, residential areas of the city suffered significant damage, and 36 windows in the Kherson Regional Music and Drama Theater were smashed.
"Another crime of the terrorist country not only against people, but also against the culture of our country. These are crimes that cannot be ignored and cannot be forgotten," the Ministry of Culture added.
