Russian troops will not be able to breach Ukraine's defenses in Lyman-Kupyansk direction
Military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko says that Russian forces, numbering over 100,000 troops in the Lyman-Kupyansk direction, are grappling with significant technical support challenges
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Despite amassing over 100,000 personnel in the Lyman-Kupyansk area, the Russians are facing substantial problems with equipping these units adequately. They lack the necessary equipment to effectively breach our defensive lines. This situation classifies the Russian troop grouping as primarily defensive in nature. The 6th and 20th combined forces, along with three motorized rifle brigades and tank regiments, are all operating under-equipped," Kovalenko clarified.
Kovalenko firmly believes that if Russian troops intensify their offensive efforts in the Lyman-Kupyansk direction, they will suffer enormous losses.
"The forces Russia has amassed in the Lyman-Kupyansk area primarily serve a defensive role. Should they attempt an offensive with numerical superiority, they might make progress, but at the cost of significant casualties. It's important to note that there has been considerable pressure on our troops in this direction. However, recent days have witnessed a notable reduction in the frequency of attacks by Russian occupying forces. Prior to this, they were unsuccessful in breaking through our defenses in the Lyman, Borova, and Kupyansk areas," he added.

The UK Ministry of Defense disclosed on August 26 that the Russian army is likely to escalate its offensive activities in the Kupyansk-Lyman direction over the next 2 months.

Additionally, on August 27, Illya Yevlash, the head of the press service for the Eastern Group of Forces, reported that Russia has concentrated 110,000 military personnel in the Lyman-Kupyansk sector of the front. This concentration has led to an increase in shelling incidents by Russian troops in that area.
