Russian troops strike Khmelnytskyi 3 times, 2 rescuers killed

On the night of February 27, Russian troops attacked the city of Khmelnytskyi. As a result, a fire broke out, killing 2 rescuers and injuring 2 others

This was reported by the head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration Serhiy Hamaliy.

"At night, Russian troops once again attacked the Khmelnytskyi region," the official wrote.

Russian forces struck 3 houses in the city of Khmelnytskyi.

Hamaliy noted that 1 person was killed and 4 suffered injuries of varying severity.

Deputy Chairman of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Council Valentyn Sokolyuk said on Espreso TV that about 20 houses were damaged in the city, the blast wave caused shrapnel damage to buildings and shattered windows.

After the first shelling, a rescue team arrived to extinguish the fire and was hit by a second attack, killing a rescuer.

Four wounded were taken to hospital. Three of the rescuers sustained moderate injuries: two suffered injuries of lower limbs, and the third had a shrapnel injury to the abdomen, while the fourth was a girl who sustained minor injuries. She was released for outpatient treatment.

Later, the head of the Khmelnytsky Regional Military Administration, Hamaliy, said that another rescuer died in hospital.

"Unfortunately, we have another death in the hospital. Doctors failed to save the life of another rescue hero," he wrote.

Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that the victims were 21-year-old Vladyslav Dvorak and 31-year-old Serhiy Sevruk.

"The Interior Ministry is mourning with the families of the victims. We remember and appreciate our heroes," Klymenko emphasized.
