Russian troop build-up in southern Ukraine signals third line of defence - Ukraine’s intelligence

Russian Forces are regrouping their forces on the occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia and plan to settle there

This is what Ukraine’s ministry of Defence says in its official Telegram channel, citing the Chief Directorate of Intelligence.

Representative of the Chief Intelligence Directorate under Ukraine's Defence Ministry Vadym Skibitskyi says they are seeing the enemy reinforce their lines in occupied Kherson with forces from Crimea. This shows how significant the Russian troop build-up is in the territories it occupies in southern Ukraine.

Russia regrouping its forces means that they want to set their positions in the South, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence. These reinforcement groups include ground, air and naval components.

Skibitskyi adds that Russia’s occupation forces started reinforcing their defence positions at the start of May.

“They’re preparing engineering structures, and setting up not one or two, but three lines of defence.”

This way Russia intends to stay on the occupied territories for a long time.
