Russian threat cannot be underestimated - President of Estonia

"My recommendation is to avoid a policy towards Russia based on the fear of instability. We have seen this before. Both Gorbachev and Yeltsin played on the fear that if they lost power, unpleasant personalities would come to power in Russia. Unfortunately, this happened and  without that. Let's not fall into this trap again," said Alar Karis.

"Maybe Russia will lose the war, but it would be a mistake to underestimate the acute threat that still emanates from there," said the Estonian politician.

Therefore, in his opinion, "they (Russians. - Ed.) bear full responsibility for the crimes they committed, for the mistakes they made during the attack on Ukraine, and for the more serious consequences for Russia, and they should be treated accordingly."
