Russian soldiers set up torture chamber for minors in Kherson region – General Staff

This is stated in the evening report of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for May 2.

Abductions and abuse of the pro-Ukrainian local population continue to be recorded in the temporarily occupied territories.

"The occupying Russian forces keep people in harsh, inhumane conditions and torture them. There are cases when kidnapped people were tortured to death by Russian terrorists," the General Staff notes.

Ukrainian Armed Forces hit 12 areas of manpower concentration and an important enemy target

Aviation of the Defense Forces made 5 strikes on areas of enemy personnel concentration. Ukrainian defenders also shot down three Russian UAVs of various types.

In turn, missile and artillery units hit one control centre, 12 areas of manpower concentration, four ammunition depots, one air defence facility and another important enemy target.

In addition, the enemy launched 3 missile attacks and fired about 8 times from multiple launch rocket systems.There are wounded among the civilian population, private houses and other civilian infrastructure are destroyed and damaged .

Russian forces are attacking in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Ukrainian defence forces repelled more than 20 enemy attacks in these areas of the frontline over the last day. The fiercest fighting continues for Bakhmut and Maryinka.

In the northern direction, no signs of enemy offensive groups were detected.

In the north-eastern directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine in Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions. During the day, Russian forces fired artillery and mortar shells at 7 settlements in Chernihiv region; 9 other settlements in Sumy region; and 5 settlements in Kharkiv region.

The situation in other areas is as follows:

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy did not launch any offensive actions. Kupiansk and 7 other settlements in the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, the Russian forces had unsuccessful offensives south of Dibrova. Makiivka in Luhansk region, Bilohorivka, Verkhnekamianske, and Spirne in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

The Russian troops keep attacking in the Bakhmut direction. Heavy fighting for the city of Bakhmut is ongoing. Moreover, during the day, the enemy went on unsuccessful offensives in the direction of Ivanivske and Predtechine. Bakhmut, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, as well as other 10 settlements  in the Donetsk region suffered from enemy shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, the Russian forces launched unsuccessful offensives in the vicinity of Pervomayske. Seven settlements in the Donetsk region, including Avdiivka, came under Russian fire.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks near Marinka over the past day. At least five settlements in the Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not go on the offensive over the past day. Russian forces fired at the localities of Novoukrainka and Prechystivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy is on the defensive. At the same time, over 30 localities bordering the combat line were fired upon during the day. Among them are Vremivka, Novosilka in Donetsk region; Huliaypole, Bilohirya, as well as other 4 settlements in Zaporizhzhia region; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region; Zolota Balka, Dudchany, as well as other 8 settlements in Kherson region and the city of Kherson itself.

On May 2, Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine exceeded 191,000 soldiers killed.
