Russian soldiers intensify assaults at Lyman and Kupyansk directions
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian enemy is focusing its main efforts on the Lyman, Avdiivka and Marinka directions – over 28 combat engagements took place over the last day
In the Lyman sector, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensives in the areas of Vesele and south of Dibrova. Russian forces also conducted air strikes in the areas of Nevske in Luhansk region and Bilohorivka and Siversk in Donetsk region.
The Lyman direction is the most tense in terms of the number of attacks by the armed forces of the occupying country. It is the most problematic section of the frontline even compared to the Zaporizhzhia and Avdiivka sectors. The main task of Russian occupiers is to break through to the Lyman area. The second task is to create opportunities for the operational encirclement of the Ukrainian grouping in the Siversk area.
This is the reason for the recent intensification of the Russian occupiers' activities in the direction of a potential attack - Ukrainian Dibrova and Torske in Donetsk region.
“Despite the fact that Russian troops are suffering enormous losses in Donbas and are "stuck" in heavy fighting in three key areas (Marinka, Avdiivka), the enemy's military and political command does not abandon its ambitious plans to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and outflank the Ukrainian group in the east. This is evidenced by certain movements of the occupiers near Kreminna.”
The enemy plans to capture the villages of Makiivka and Nevske and reach the administrative borders of the Luhansk region.
It is noteworthy that it was in May that the analytical department of the Prava Sprava (Right Cause - ed.) NGO reported that the occupiers were assembling a "tank fist" and were likely to attack from near Kreminna towards Lyman.
In particular, according to local sources of Prava Sprava, the Russian enemy then moved additional units to the Lyman direction. It was about reinforcement with personnel and heavy armoured vehicles. New units of the 3rd and 24th Special Forces Brigades, the 144th and 3rd Infantry Brigades, and the 90th Tank Division of the Russian Armed Forces were spotted on this section of the frontline, near Kreminna in Luhansk region. The redeployment of heavy armoured vehicles from the so-called "2nd Army Corps of LPR" was observed in the direction of Bilohorivka.
In addition, according to local sources of Prava Sprava, the redeployment of some units of the 98th Airborne Division (permanent location - Ivanovo) towards the village of Dibrova was recorded.
It is worth noting that it is in this area that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have repelled numerous enemy attacks over the past few days.
“According to sources in one of Ukraine’s National Guard units, the Russians intensified their assaults on Ukrainian positions in the Lyman sector. Especially in the area of Dibrova (12 km east of de-occupied Yampil) and Serebryanske forestry. "One of the newly formed and not very well trained units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had to retreat from a small part of its positions," the sources said.”
At the same time, the Russian invaders have been pressing along the entire contact line from Lyman to Kupyansk over the past few days.
Intense fighting is taking place in the Kupyansk sector in the Kharkiv region.
The units of the Second 18th Motorised Infantry Division of the Russian Armed Forces are concentrated here. The occupiers' objective is to push the Ukrainian defences towards Kupyansk with the possibility of reaching Izyum. That is, to create a Kupiansk-Izyum strike group that will hang over the flanks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces concentrated in Sloviansk.
In my opinion, the information agenda set by the Russians is to divert attention from the main areas of attack.
The main areas of attack are the Lyman and Kupyansk directions. Quite serious forces are concentrated in the Lyman direction. In addition, we can talk about the deployment of additional reserves, both armoured vehicles and personnel.
The Russian invading forces have intensified their assaults in the Lyman and Kupyansk directions to draw the defenders' forces away from the supply route and reach the administrative border of the Luhansk region.
