Russian shelling aims to stop Ukraine's nuclear power plants - ministry of energy
The purpose of the massive Russian missile attack on November 15 could be to shut down Ukraine's nuclear power plants
First Deputy Minister of Energy Yurii Vlasenko expressed his opinion in an interview with Forbes.
“Probably their energy specialists, who have schemes for our energy system, told the military where to strike to stop the operation of our nuclear power plants,” he said.
The main hits were on electrical substations.
The IAEA said that due to Russian attacks, both power units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP, as well as one at the Rivne NPP stopped.
Energoatom, Ukraine’s nuclear power operator, has not yet commented on the shelling.
