Russian propaganda readies PSYOP amid Ukraine’s counterattacks in Bakhmut

The task of the psychological operation is to distribute a bulk of text, video and audio content ‘from the scene’ about the ‘colossal’ losses of the AFU

Oleksandr Kovalenko, Ukrainian military and political analyst warned about it in a publication on his Telegram channel.

The goal of Russia's propaganda machine is to create the impression that the advance in the area of Bakhmut causes "enormous" losses and does not justify itself at all. This should, on the one hand, minimize the negative effect of defeats in the Russian segment and demoralize the Ukrainian segment, into which the PSYOP will also be integrated.

While performing the psychological operation, trophy props available to the occupying Russian forces will be used, ranging from the uniforms of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (recognizable pixels and chevrons) to the equipment. Predominantly, for the sake of credibility, trophy Western vehicles such as Saxon, M113, and HMMWVs will be used.

In parallel, this information wave will be supported both in the Russian media and by Western pro-Russian repeaters such as Colonel MacGregor, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis, U.S. presidential candidate Kennedy Jr. and other Russian propaganda broadcasters.
