Russian officials sell Zelenska's apartment in Crimea
Occupying Russian authorities have sold an apartment in Yalta, Crimea, owned by Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska for over UAH 17 million (USD 450,000) at an auction
This was reported by the Russian propaganda outlet Izvestia, which cited data from the Torgi trading system.
"The property was put up for auction at an address in Livadia (Yalta) at 44 A Baturina Street, apartment 501 with an area of 119.5 sq. m.” the message says.
The initial cost of the lot was RUB 24 million 642 thousand. The auction was attended by only two bidders – individuals living in Moscow. Eventually, the winner Olga Lipovetskaya offered RUB 44.356 million (about USD 450,000).
After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation proposed to "compensate for the damage to Donbas at the expense of the assets of Ukrainian officials in Russia" – in particular, to take away the apartment in occupied Crimea from the wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
More details on Olena Zelenska’s apartment in Crimea
Olena Zelenska bought a 129.8 square meter apartment in an elite residential complex at the same address as the Livadia Palace in April 2013, along with a 16.1 square meter parking space.
According to Zelenskyy's declaration, the value of this property is 1.3 million hryvnias (more than $160,000 at the exchange rate of the period).
In 2019, Reuters reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's wife, Olena, bought a luxury apartment in Livadia for less than half the market value from former MP and oligarch Oleksandr Buryak.
At the time, Zelenskyy's office assured that the apartment was purchased at a market price and noted that the Zelenskyy would use the apartment "only after the return of Crimea to Ukraine". The statement did not mention any plans to sell the apartment.
Earlier Krym.Realii reported that Olena Zelenska's Crimean apartment is located in the Emperor elite residential complex in Livadia, next to politicians, successful entrepreneurs and pop stars.
