Russian occupying forces destroy a school in Avdiivka with phosphorus munitions. 

Russian soldiers have shelled a school in Avdiivka with banned phosphorus shells, there were no casualties but the building was destroyed in the attack.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, chief of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, informs that on the night of 18th of May, Russian troops shelled Avdiivska School №1.

According to the State Administration the school was completely destroyed and burned down. Only the staff on duty was present during the shelling, no one was injured.

Kyrylenko informs that prior to the attack, over 200 students were attending the school.

He also commented that there was no Ukrainian military equipment or soldiers in the school, and that the Russian soldiers are purposely targeting the civilian infrastructure.

Kyrylenko also reminds that since the beginning of the war, 24th of February, Russian occupants have destroyed and damaged 416 educational institutions of the Donetsk region, which includes 181 kindergartens, 191 schools, 23 vocational schools and 21 higher education institutions.
