Russian occupiers shell Kharkiv center with artillery, causing blaze in city, there are dead and wounded

Today, August 30, invading Russian forces shelled the center of Kharkiv.

This was announced by the mayor of Kharkiv Igor Terekhov.

"Artillery shelling of the central part of the city. Previously, eight times. Quite a large square. So far, we know about a fire in one of the most favorite places of rest for Kharkiv residents. Another place of rest was also hit - windows were broken in the surrounding houses. Information about victims is being clarified," he wrote.

The head of Kharkiv Regional Administration leg Sinegubov added that at least one person was injured.

"The Russian occupiers shelled the central districts of Kharkiv. There is destruction, at least 1 person was injured. Information is being clarified. There is a possibility of new arrivals. Stay in shelters," Sinegubov wrote.

Subsequently, Ihor Terekhov wrote about several people who died as a result of the arrivals.

"Information has been received about the arrival of a plane next to a five-story residential building, as well as about reaching one of the preschool educational institutions. All of them are in the city center. There is already information about three dead and four wounded," Terekhov wrote.

At 10:45, the mayor clarified information about the victims.

"Clarified information on the victims at this moment. 5 dead and 7 wounded," Terekhov wrote.

At 10:49 a.m., the head of Kharkiv Regional Administration reported 9 wounded.

"All emergency services are working on the spot, the victims are being helped. Information is being clarified. New shelling is possible. Stay in shelters," Sinegubov added.

According to preliminary data, the Russians struck from the Uragan surface-to-air missile system.

"At approximately 10:15, the blows were delivered in the city center. These are yards, a residential building that caught fire. The fire was contained. It was a park area. As of now, we know about 5 dead, seven wounded of varying degrees of severity were taken to the hospital. 2  of medium severity and there are several people with light injuries. One person will be operated and the fragment will be removed. All people received shrapnel wounds. The degree of adequacy of the enemy - in one of the park zones, a toilet was destroyed by a direct hit of a projectile. Civilians are resting there," Nataliya Popova, adviser to the head of Kharkiv Regional Administration stated.
