Russian night attack: Ukrainian air defense forces destroy all 17 drones
On the night of September 15, Russian troops launched Shahed drones at Ukraine. But Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed all 17 air targets
The Air Force of Ukraine reported the information.
"On the night of September 15, 2023, the enemy attacked Ukraine with Shahed-136/131-type attack UAVs from the southeast (Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia)," the statement said.
It noted that a total of 17 strike UAVs were launched, which moved in the direction of the Khmelnytskyi region along different routes.
All 17 air targets were destroyed by air defense. Fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force and other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved.
This marks the third consecutive large-scale “kamikaze” drone attack.
Overall, Ukrainian defense forces destroyed almost 80% of the “kamikaze” drones launched by Russian troops at Ukraine in three days, Defense Express reports.
On the night of September 14, Russian troops launched 22 attack drones towards Ukraine, with 17 being successfully intercepted. Similarly, on September 13, 44 Shahed drones were launched, and 32 of them were neutralized.
The two preceding attacks on September 13 and 14 followed a concerning pattern of drones being launched simultaneously from three directions, rather than just one or two.
Over the past three days, Russia has launched a total of 83 Shahed-type drones at Ukraine, with 66 units, equivalent to 79.5% of the total, being successfully intercepted and neutralized.
