Russian missile attack on Odesa region kills 17 people
The Russian missile attack was carried out on Odesa from strategic aircraft based in the Black Sea. A 9-story residential building was damaged and 17 people were killed.
The Operational Command South (OC South) shared the news, Odesa City Council reported.
"As a result of a nighttime missile strike by Tu-22 strategic aviation aircraft from the direction of the Black Sea in the Bilgorod-Dnistrovsky region of Odesa, three Kh-22 missiles hit an apartment building and two recreation centers," the message reads.
As of 05:30, 17 killed people were found, including 1 child, medical assistance was provided to 31 injured persons, including 4 children and a pregnant woman. 8 people were rescued from the rubble, including 3 children. The seriously injured were hospitalized.
Rescue operations are currently underway. Investigative and operational teams are working in the places of hits.
Earlier, the State Emergency Service reported that 14 people were killed and 30 injured (including 3 children). At that time, 7 people (including 3 children) were rescued from the rubble.
Also, around 01:00 in the Bilgorod-Dnistrovsky district, a 3-story and a 4-story building of a recreation center were partially destroyed by a missile attack, as a result of which 3 people were killed (including 1 child) and one person was injured.
On the morning of July 1, OC South and Odesa military administration spokesman Serhiy Bratchuk reported in a Telegram that one Russian missile hit a 9-story residential building, and the second hit a recreation center in the Bilgorod-Dnistrovsky district. One entrance of 9 floors was completely destroyed in the multi-apartment building.
The number of killed reached 10. Medical aid was provided to 7 injured, including 3 children.
Debris clearance and fire fighting continued in the store attached to the house on an area of about 20 square meters.
At the recreation center, no fire was detected, only destruction.
As OC South noted, one of the fighter-bombers of the cover fired 2 Kh-31 cruise missiles over Odesa region, which hit the agricultural fields of the Bilgorod-Dnistrovsky district. There were no damages or losses.
