"The enemy is trying to storm out positions day and night. In the Bakhmut direction, fighting goes on almost 24 hours a day. There may be an hour or two of a relative break, and then fighting resumes. The enemy is trying to storm our positions with infantry," Illienko said.
According to the officer, Russian military leadership is sending recruits and convicts to the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"Everything is littered with corpses of Russian soldiers. The situation is tough, fierce battles are ongoing. Bakhmut is a Ukrainian fortress that has been holding during Kharkiv and Kherson regions liberation, and it continues to hold now. Bakhmut's role is huge in this war, there are many battles ahead," Illienko emphasized.
