Russian forces use "suicide squads" in eastern Ukraine – Deputy Defense Minister Maliar

Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said that due to losses in Ukraine’s east, the Russian forces are using so-called "suicide squads" – insufficiently trained mobilized troops who suffer heavy losses on the battlefield

Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar shared the update on Telegram.

"More and more Russian soldiers are realizing that their commanders are inadequately assessing the situation on the battlefield, as evidenced by the intensive use of so-called suicide squads – units staffed by insufficiently trained mobilized personnel who suffer heavy combat and sanitary losses on a daily basis," she wrote.

Maliar noted that only one training center in the Rostov region sends about 500 "suiciders" every week, most of whom undergo an accelerated training course of 14 to 21 days.

The mobilized troops, not wanting to be "suiciders," resort to deliberate damage to military equipment, mostly engines, which, without firing a single shot, is sent to repair bases with a full load of ammunition.

The deputy minister also said that the enemy suffers significant losses – in particular, in some assault units of the Wagner PMC and units of the 2nd Army corps, losses amount to 80% of personnel.

"Evacuation of the dead and wounded by the enemy is limited or not carried out at all. As a result, among the personnel of the Russian forces in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, there is a significant decrease in trust to the command's decisions on the course of warfare," she added.
