The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on Facebook.

Russia launched 23 missile strikes, 28 airstrikes, and over 11 MLRS attacks against Ukraine

On April 28, the Russian Federation launched 23 cruise missiles of the Kh-101 and Kh-555 types. Ukrainian defenders destroyed 21 cruise missiles and two operational and tactical UAVs. Uman in the Cherkasy region, Dnipro and Ukrainka in the Kyiv region suffered from Russian missile terror. Moreover, the enemy forces launched 28 airstrikes and 11 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems.

At least 25 civilians were killed, including 5 children. More than 10 apartment buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.

AFU repelled 40 Russian attacks and destroyed 3 control points

Occupying Russian forces are attacking at the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Over the last day, they launched 40 assaults in these areas. Bakhmut and Marinka remain at the epicenter of the fighting, and Ukrainian soldiers are bravely holding the line.

Ukrainian aviation launched 4 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions. At the same time, missile troops and artillery struck 3 control points, a munitions depot, as well as 4 enemy manpower concentration areas.

Russian troops use educational and medical facilities for military purposes

The Russian forces continue to use educational institutions of the temporarily occupied territories for their own purposes: the invaders set up their military facilities there, hiding behind a 'human shield' of students and teaching staff.

“For example, in the village of Lubianka, Luhansk region, servicemen of the occupying Russian forces are stationed in the building of a local school. The personnel are stationed in the buildings of educational institutions, while the occupiers force the teaching staff to continue the educational process with mandatory attendance of children.

The occupiers converted the local hospital in Kalanchak, Kherson region, into a military hospital, where a large number of seriously wounded Russians were brought on April 27. The enemy used a KAMAZ-based medical truck to transport their wounded,” the General Staff noted.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected.

At the same time, the Russian Federation keeps shelling the entire border line with mortars and fire: 3 settlements in the Chernihiv region, 5 more in the Sumy region, as well as 6 villages in the Kharkiv region were attacked.

Russian attacks in other Ukrainian regions

In the Kupiansk direction, 10 settlements in the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions came under artillery fire.

In the Lyman direction, 13 localities were attacked by the occupying Russian troops.

In the Bakhmut direction, fighting for the fortress city continues. 10 localities in the Donetsk region were subjected to numerous Russian attacks.

In the Avdiivka direction, 6 settlements of the Donetsk region came under shelling.

In the Marinka direction, invading Russian troops attacked 4 settlements of the Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, 3 settlements of the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, over 40 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the Russian army.

  • A Russian missile hit a high-rise building in Uman, Cherkasy region, during a massive attack: at least 23 people are killed, including four children, and 18 are injured. In Dnipro, a 2-year-old girl and a 31-year-old woman were killed and four people were injured.

  • On the afternoon of April 28, invading Russian forces launched three airstrikes on Kostobobriv in the Chernihiv region, damaging eight houses.
