Russian forces turn Mariupol sea port into military logistics base - mayor's adviser
Invading Russian forces have fired almost all employees of the Mariupol sea port and are turning it into a military logistics base
Petro Andriushchenko, advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, said this on Espreso TV.
“In fact, today the Russians are turning the port into a military-logistics base. So far, we can see its civilian use. River-sea vessels with large equipment began to arrive irregularly, because the entrance to the port and the channel leading to Mariupol are very silted up,” he emphasized.
The Russians also import building materials, which are partially used for repair work and the construction of defense structures. In addition, the occupying forces brought many sea containers, but their contents are unknown.
“The Russians have started to divide the moorings into civilian and military ones. This does not require special preparation. They intend to place military boats there from the spring,” the mayor's adviser noted.
Petro Andriushchenko added that the invading Russian forces also fired almost all the workers. Some were sent to the Crimea, and they disappeared. Instead of Ukrainian workers, they brought in Russians and actually closed access to the port territory.
