Russian forces shot three Ukrainian prisoners of war near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. The Prosecutor General's Office has launched an investigation
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, in December 2023, Russian servicemen near Robotyne took three Ukrainian servicemen prisoner during a military clash. An hour later, the Russian forces shot them dead. The video was posted on the Internet.
The Prosecutor General's Office noted that such actions by Russian forces violate Article 3 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
"This is another case of a gross violation of international humanitarian law on the treatment of prisoners of war by the aggressor country. Under the procedural supervision of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, criminal proceedings have been initiated on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement said.
The pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
