Russian forces shell Saltiv district in Kharkiv, killing one person

According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a woman was killed and six other people were injured during the shelling by the Russian occupiers of a residential area in the Saltiv district. The shelling was carried out from the "Grad" MLRS from the direction of the occupied village of Liptsi.

"A 75-year-old woman was killed, who was on the street near the house during the shelling. Six civilians were injured. Among them was a woman who was injured by projectile fragments while at a public transport stop. Russian shells hit the yard and the roof of a multi-story building. The apartment was damaged , a children's playground, cars and a garage box. In addition, there was a fire in the premises of the former department store," writes the Kharkiv Prosecutor's Office.

Under the procedural leadership of the Saltiv District Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv, a pre-trial investigation was launched into the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Article 438, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The number of injured as a result of the morning shelling of Saltivka has increased to 7 people.  According to Oleg Sinegubov, the head of Kharkiv Regional Administration , 2 more injured people have turned for help to doctors.  A 69-year-old woman was treated on the spot.  An 80-year-old woman from Kharkiv was hospitalized in a medical institution.  She is in a moderate condition.

As reported by Suspilne with reference to Yevhen Vasylenko, the spokesman of the regional rescue department, the Russian Federation had previously fired at Kharkiv with the Grad rocket salvo fire systems.

"Ammunition hit the yard near the temple, near multi-story residential buildings, the residential building itself, the garage cooperative, as well as the children's playground. Sappers and rescuers of the State Emergency Service are working at the scene. A fire of 20 square meters has broken out on the territory of the garage cooperative, it was quickly extinguished. The sappers of the State Emergency Service are removing the remains of explosive objects," Vasylenko said.

According to the updated information of Mayor Ihor Terekhov, 8 Kharkiv residents were wounded as a result of the morning shelling.  In total, about 10 hits were recorded in the Saltiv district of Kharkiv.

Later, Oleg Synegubov clarified that 4 people were hospitalized. Two of them are in serious condition.  Another person was treated on the spot.

Medical and rescue services continue to work at the sites of the hits.

Earlier, Synegubov reported on the shelling of the city on the morning of August 15.  The Russians launched a missile attack on the Saltiv district.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov spoke about the arrivals at another address in the Saltiv district.  The rocket hit the yard.  As a result, cars were damaged, windows in the house were blown out.  The playground was damaged.

Kharkiv mayor also stated that the arrivals were recorded near the public transport stop.

Also, in the same Saltivsk district, Russian troops shelled a nine-story building. The projectile hit the roof. Reportedly there are no victims.

It is also reported that the garage cooperative caught fire.

The city council urges residents to be careful and not to leave their shelters.
