Russian forces keep children in separate torture chambers in Kherson region
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets says separate torture chambers for children who "resisted" have been discovered in the de-occupied Kherson region
He said this at a media briefing.
He noted that in one of the 4 torture chambers that were discovered in Kherson, there was a separate cell for children. Occupying Russian forces claimed that there were "improved" conditions there.
“The occupiers called it a 'children's cell'. It differed only in that there were three thin mattresses in the same damp room. These were 'improved conditions' for children,” Lubinets said.
According to him, the children were hardly given water and food, and psychological pressure was used. Children who, according to the Russians, "were resisting" were taken to torture chambers.
“The children were told that 'your parents have given up on you.' One of the boys, he is 14, was taken away for taking pictures of broken Russian equipment. They took away children who, according to the occupiers, were resisting,” the ombudsman explained.
