The massive Russian missile attack on December 29 was aimed at leaving Ukrainians without electricity on New Year's Day, according to Ukraine's PM Denys Shmyhal.

“The tenth large-scale attack. Russia is trying to deprive Ukrainians of light before the New Year. The enemy placed a high bet on this attack and prepared for it for two weeks,” Prime Minister Shmyhal wrote and recalled that the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces shot down 54 missiles out of 69.
“At the same time, it was not without hits and damage, in particular to energy facilities. In some areas, emergency shutdowns may be applied to avoid accidents. Our energy engineers are already working to repair everything,” Shmyhal emphasized.
