Russian forces fire at Nikopol with barrel artillery, at Marhanets with multiple launch rocket systems

On the night of August 13 to 14, 2022, invading Russian forces shelled Nikopol with barrel artillery

This was announced by the head of the Nikopol District Military Administration, Yevhen Yevtushenko.

"The city of Nikopol is being shelled by barrel artillery. The details are being established. Residents of settlements located on the banks of the Kakhovka Reservoir - stay in shelters", Yevtushenko wrote.

On the morning of August 14, details of the shelling appeared. They were made public by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Valentyn Reznichenko.

"Nikopol was targeted by barrel artillery. 20 hits.

In the city, 9 high-rise and 8 private buildings, a school, and several shops were damaged", Reznichenko said.

Gas pipelines and power lines were hit by the shelling. Several thousand people of Nikopol are without electricity. Electricians are working on site.

There were no casualties.

The city of Marhanets, neighboring Nikopol, also came under fire.

"The Russians hit Marhanets with Grad systems. 30 Russian shells hit peaceful quarters. A 69-year-old man was wounded, and he is in the hospital", the head of the Dnipropetrovsk region said. 

More than 10 private houses and the power grid were damaged in the city.

Based on this fact of Russian aggression against the civilian population of the Nikopol district, law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings under Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
