Russian forces continue to suffer heavy losses in Donetsk region – General Staff

"Russian soldiers were liquidated from February 20 to 22 in the direction of Bakhmut. After the examination, the bodies of the invaders were taken by trucks to the direction of Novoshakhtinsk in the Russian Federation," the post reads.

At the same time, it is also noted that in the period from February 22 to 24, up to 30 bodies of the Russian soldiers mobilized from the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk region were brought to the local morgue in Horlivka.

During the day, the enemy carried out 11 airstrikes and launched 17 MLRS attacks, in particular, on the civilian infrastructure of the city of Kherson and along the entire front line in the Donetsk region.

The operational situation in the northern and northeastern Ukrainian borders with Belarus and Russia remained unchanged.

At the same time, during the day, the enemy fired mortar and artillery shells at 1 locality in Chernihiv region; 3 in Sumy region, as well as at 13 localities in Kharkiv region. In the Popivka area of the Sumy region, the enemy used an unmanned aerial vehicle with a combat load.

In the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, they shelled artillery near 18 settlements, in particular, in the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions. In the districts of 4 settlements the enemy carried out airstrikes.

In the Bakhmut direction, more than 15 localities in the Donetsk region came under fire. Air strike was launched near Bakhmut. 

In the Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions, hostile artillery attacks were registered in 11 localities. The enemy is actively using operational-tactical and army aviation in the 3 districts.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, 20 towns and villages were hit by fire.

In the Kherson direction, 19 settlements of the Kherson region suffered from Russian occupiers' artillery fire. 

During the day, Ukrainian aviation carried out 4 strikes on Russian military positions

On February 26, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov announced that Russian troops had launched their "major offensive" in Donbas; they are losing 500 soldiers every day.
