Russian forces ban civilian traffic between Hola Prystan and Kinburn Spit – General Staff

This is stated in the evening report of the General Staff for August 16.

Russian forces are conducting massive searches of residential premises and phone checks, with the main focus on residents who have SIM cards of Ukrainian operators.

At the same time, according to the General Staff, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, consolidate their positions, and carry out counter-battery operations.

Ukrainian aviation launches 9 strikes on Russian personnel concentrations

Ukrainian Armed Forces launched another strike on a Russian anti-aircraft missile system.

In turn, units of missile troops and artillery destroyed one more Russian anti-aircraft missile system during the day.

Russian forces also launched 30 MLRS attacks. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties, including children. The port infrastructure in the Odesa region was destroyed, as well as residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure. 

Moreover, today Ukrainian air defense destroyed 2 Kh-59 cruise missiles and 13 Russian Shahed-136/131 UAVs. 

Over 15 combat clashes took place in the main frontline areas over the last day.

On the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

On the northeastern border with Russia, Russian forces launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 15 settlements across Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful offensive near Synkivka, Kharkiv region. They shelled 3 settlements across the Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces shelled over 20 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions with artillery.

In the Bakhmut direction,  Russian troops launched an unsuccessful offensive near Bohdanivka, Donetsk region. They also shelled over 15 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Avdiivka direction, being under heavy fire from Russian aircraft and artillery, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks near Avdiivka. Russian troops shelled over 10 settlements with artillery. 

In the Marinka direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces hold back the Russian offensive near the town of Marinka. Russian troops launched air strikes near Novomykhailivka and shelled over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near Urozhaine and Blahodatne settlements. They also shelled around 10 settlements.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, over 20 settlements came under Russian artillery fire.

In the Kherson direction, Russian forces shelled over 10 settlements.

On Wednesday, August 16, Russian troops attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region, killing an 18-year-old boy and wounding a 2-year-old girl.
