"In recent days, the Russian enemy has been completely blocking railway traffic from the temporarily occupied Crimea to Melitopol. It was this direct line that the occupiers used to transfer both weapons and ammunition. Also, and most importantly, invading Russian forces used this railway to transport our Ukrainian grain and iron ore from Vasylivskyi district. We can say that today the railway is rarely in operation," said the mayor of Melitopol.
Ivan Fedorov explained a problem with the railroad is that from time to time something happens either at the Melitopol depot or on the railroad overpasses that directly connect Melitopol with Crimea.
"What happens most often today is that the Russian forces do not take trains to Melitopol. Rather, they unload at least in Yakymivka or near Henichesk," Fedorov said.
On July 22, the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, reported that Russian occupiers were moving heavy military equipment through the city at night.
Ivan Fedorov also said that drunken Russian soldiers driving a Tiger infantry mobility vehicle rammed a civilian car in Melitopol.
