Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that a Russian drone struck a residential building in the Samarskyi district, trapping children under the rubble. Local residents pulled one child out, but the girl, born in 2012, died on the way to the hospital.
Emergency workers rescued another girl, born in 2019, and handed her over to medics. Both parents sustained injuries but declined hospitalization.
In the Synelnykivskyi district, a drone strike ignited a fire at an industrial facility. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties or injuries.
Aftermath of the Russian attack in Kyiv
At 12:38 a.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that air defense forces were active in the region. By 12:56 a.m., the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, confirmed that air defense was also operating in the capital. Shortly afterward, he reported that drone debris had fallen in the Desnianskyi district.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that a private house and a car had reportedly caught fire, and medics had been dispatched to the area. At 2:23 a.m., he added that a woman had been injured and was being treated on the scene.
According to Klitschko, debris from a downed drone caused a fire that destroyed a three-story recreation center. As of the morning of April 29, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported that three people had sought medical assistance at the scene but did not require hospitalization.
"Within Kyiv, debris from a downed drone caused a fire at a recreation center in the Desnianskyi district," the administration stated. "There is destruction and damage to buildings and cars. Rescuers continue working at the site."
Air defense operation in Zaporizhzhia
At 1:41 a.m., the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported on the work of the air defense system.
