Russian drone strike on Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk region, kills 9, injures dozens
Russian occupying forces launched a drone attack on Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk region, killing 9 people and injuring at least 49 others
Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported the information.
Preliminary reports indicated that the Russian attack killed at least 7 people and injured 6 others. Lysak added that authorities were still clarifying the details.
Later, it emerged that Russian forces had struck a bus carrying company employees on their way to work. By 8:30 a.m., the death toll had risen to 9, and 30 people were reported injured.
Around 11:30 a.m., the number of wounded rose to 42, with almost all of them hospitalized. Only three victims are receiving outpatient treatment.
According to the Regional Military Administration, 7 women and 2 men were killed.
By 12:45 p.m., the number of wounded increased to 43 following the Russian UAV strike on a bus carrying company employees, the Prosecutor General's Office reported.
“It was an egregiously brutal attack – and an absolutely deliberate war crime. In the city of Marhanets the Russians struck a bus which was transporting workers of a mining and processing plant. An ordinary bus. Clearly a civilian object, a civilian target. More than 40 people were injured, most of them women, and some received very severe wounds. Tragically, 9 people were killed,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.
He emphasized that Russian forces carry out such strikes almost every day, targeting civilians in Kherson and the surrounding region, in Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, and communities in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
“The Russians even showboat about them, posting footage of strikes on civilians online. The whole world should take this seriously – if the Russians are using this form of terror, other terrorists may adopt it too. That’s one of the reasons continued Russian aggression is a global threat,” Zelenskyy added.
As of 3:00 p.m., Serhiy Lysak reported that the number of victims had increased to 49.
"31 people are hospitalized. Four of them – two men and two women – are in serious condition," added the head of the regional military administration.
- On the night of April 23, the Russian army launched Shahed drones at Ukrainian territory, causing explosions in several cities.
